Awarding the Contract

Once the contract has been awarded, commissioners need to:

  • Ensure timely payment to the provider. 

  • Be available should any issues concerning the programme arise. Preferably set up a general oral health email address rather than a personal email address to provide permanence in case of staff changes.  

  • Ensure appropriate governance and performance monitoring processes are in place, covering: 

    • Organisation of the supervised toothbrushing programme

    • Monitoring to include accurate records of activities as described above and appropriate use of personal data in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). 

    • Ensuring changes to policies including infection prevention and control are reviewed and kept up-to-date.  

    • Appropriate safeguarding policies are followed.
